I may be crazy late to this party lol, but I’m wondering about a couple of trends I’m seeing that have trickled down to custom jewellers and inexpensive jewellery.

The first is the “paper clip” style chain. I’m a bit of a fan of this, as it’s quite a delicate look and not as chunky as some others such as belcher. Sometimes you want to see more skin than other necklaces provide, but you still want something glittery around your neck

The other is the half pearl necklace. Often being paired with the paper clip style chain, and with a toggle fastening normally worn at the front.
I’m a super big fan of these, as I own some gorgeous real pearls and am always scared of scratching them with layering. But I’m too greedy to only wear the one necklace most of the time With this styles you can have both.

I’ve seen some gorgeous examples where the pearls are large and baroque, and don’t go the full half length.

Does anyone know the designers that first influenced these looks?

I think Chanel was the person that populized the paperclip chain. Then it was revived by Jacqueline Kennedy. The half pearl half chain trend started with the collection of Mykimoto x Comme des Garcons. Other brands start to combine both trends into one so now you have half paperclip, half pearl. AFAIK.

Almost everything is always old is new again and especially when it comes to jewellery. Mabe (half pearls) were among the first widely available south sea cultured pearls as back in the day.
Would be interesting to see your pics though as I don’t really know the style you are specifically referring to. Mabes were massive in the 80s as rings and earrings of course.
Victorians loved large link chains see pics just quickly grabbed from the internet:

Absolutely! These are so popular again. I love antique jewelry, and they have had a resurgence in the past couple of years. Anyone interested can also search for “trombone” link chain, which is what the ones with different sizes are often labeled as; and which I personally love. I feel like some of the Tiffany Hardwear line also reflects this aesthetic.

Yes, agree with @chaerimk on Mikimoto and the half pearl and @nicole0612 for Tiffany.
For the paperclip, I think the most recent interest began with Tiffany. It started when Reed Krakoff launched the Everyday Objects collection (2017?), selling a gold paperclip for $1500 and the silver version for $165. Critics balked, but some clients loved it, and they hung it on a necklace as jewelry. I think this may influenced the now present paperclip theme in the Tiffany Hardwear collection. I think for a paperclip theme, Tiffany's version is gorgeous.

The original Tiffany paperclip is no longer available, but you can get the clothespin and hang it on a chain.
