i remember every season kate spade would come out with the cutest novelty/limited edition bags. it was one of the reasons i looked forward to checking their site and shopping there but i checked their site recently and couldnt find anything. im so confused, have the stopped creating/selling them? there is no tab called the novelty shop online either. :(

^ Sadly, I feel the same way about Kate Spade now. I used to love the old school KS, as it was feminine, fun, and classy.

The newest purses these days are either tacky and loud or uninspiring and dull. I don’t think the quality is the same, either.

I guess they’re trying to appeal to a younger demographic? I’m in my mid-thirties and can’t imagine carrying any of these styles around. The brand has really lost its way, unfortunately...nothing for me there anymore.

You should take a look at Frances Valentine. Kate Spade started it before her passing. I just bought a darling green baguette style made out of boar skin. I’m thinking I need it in the pink snake skin too cause it’s so darn cute.
When she passed, she left them with 3 full years of bag designs...so the styles coming out every season, are still hers....

I'm also done with Kate Spade. I used to love the brand because many of their things were either cheery or classy and feminine. My shopping experiences were always full of happiness and fun. Now, I don't even feel like setting foot in their stores because everything is so different but in a very boring and uninspiring way. I wish that Nicola would read these posts and take what we feel and say into consideration. It wasn't broke so why did she have to fix or change things?!

She didn't. She stopped being involved with the brand years ago, long before she died. The company is now owned by the same company that owns Coach, called "Tapestry." If you look at what's happened to Coach over the last several years, you can see that brand struggling to find its identity as well. I think the rise of the non-luxury brands that are just below the Kate Spade/Coach/Michael Kors price point (think Madewell or some of the new online-only brands) has these companies in panic mode and they're trying everything.

tbh i feel like coach/KS/MK have pretty distinct identities now. Coach is known for diving more into the fashion space as of the last 4ish years and experimenting with new collections every season and then they have the whole coachXDisney thing. MK has always been known for being a wanna be knockoff LV, their tacky saffiano leather and sometimes copying other premium luxury brands. KS was ALWAYS known for whimsical quirky stuff and its now just boring and bland. i dont really think online brands are THAT popular, we're always constantly seeing them because of bloggers but idk anyone irl that would know abt polene/senreve/madewell. and even then the whimsical cutesy niche is pretty popular i see many online brands hopping on that. i think KS is hella lost
