Where - and with what - does one wear a ring this wide?

I just got this ring as a gift. I am trying to decide if I should:
a keep it,
b. exchange it, or
c. wear it on the right occasion...but when would such an occasion be?

It actually fits on my ring finger, but I am putting it on my forefinger so one could compare to a typical ring style for me. I appreciate any opinions, esp. because I have only a few days to decide if I am going to keep it.

The ring on your ring finger is very delicate so I can see how you would think the other ring wide but it really is not compared to bands that fit almost to the knuckle. It looks very unique - is it an antique? what is the red stone and the stones/design next to it. Maybe you could take a close-up of the whole ring and then one of it on your finger?

Thank you to everyone who has helped me, and of course thank you for the compliment! Here is another picture of it on my middle finger, where I might wear it as it balances it seems balanced. It is actually a ring with several layers. I am still deciding. One decision I have made is that it is time for a manicure.

I really like that ring! It's so intricate and different. But I don't think it looks wide AT ALL on you. You have nice, long fingers!

Te Cladagh (sp?) ring - that was my first thought but i think an emerald is the traditional stone for that ring.
It's pretty and unique - wear it in good health. Enjoy!
