hi everyone,

i'm seeing a lot of the fur sandals - whether they are the uggs fluffy slides with the elastic back or the birkenstocks in shearling? i think ive seen hermes in shearling too!

they are cute and i kind of want to get a pair but when would you wear these? with socks when it isn't that cold? when youre not going too far? my friends have said that i should get it for the house but i dont think i would wear these inside my home.

i guess this is the same question that i had about the gucci provincetown mules with the fur - i love the look of them but i associate fur with really cold weather and i wouldnt know when to wear them.

thanks!

I have two pairs of navy shearling birkenstock bostons (closed toe mule) and shearling arizonas. I wear one pair of the bostons as a house slipper. One is in reserve as a possible future terrace slipper for our second place. I think I have worn the arizonas outside with jeans in perfect weather when I’m not going to be walking much. I did wear Uggs occasionally, but the fact that these are open and attract dirt dissuades me. Perhaps if I were younger and had more of a west coast sensibility, IDK lol. Here is the shearling H thread. Dirt and matted shearling is an issue there too https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/hermes-shearling-oran-sandals.1053997/

I live in a warmer climate, no snow, so I wear them in fall and winter mostly. I have black suede Birkenstock look with black fur lining sandal and a tan teddy bear look double strap sandal. The tan ones I will wear in summer too since they are a light color and have a white sole.

I used to live in a cold climate with snow and I did wear sandals, no socks, in the winter as long as it wasn't actively snowing basically. But snow on the ground was still okay! Usually sidewalks and roads were cleared off pretty fast. I remember walking to my high school bus stop in sandals with snow on the ground.
