When did LV start sewing the speedy differently?

I've noticed that the top handle stitching had changed from below to above the metal stud. Does anyone know when and why this happened?

I believe it was at the same time they changed the chaps to be padded instead of flat. Maybe 5ish years ago, possibly more.
