Purseforum, what's your favorite style of handbag? What styles and types of bags do you gravitate towards? Are you into small bags, medium bags, or big bags? Do you like flap bags or not? What color, what style? What were the styles you thought you would love, and what do you actually love? Which handbags do you find works best for you and your lifestyle?

I thought I would love shoulder bags, for example, but I apparently really like structured small totes/bucket bags. Coach Minetta, Polene Huit and Polene Neuf. I want the crossbody strap and the top handle, and I want to be able to throw a lot of stuff in. Magnetic closure because I don't like clasps! With shoulder bags the strap is always slipping off my shoulder. A single long strap to wear it crossbody or shoulder will do the trick.

After an odyssey of buying way too many bags because they look good on other people (and then selling them because I never reach for them), I realize that the type of bag that I love and use is basically the Hermes Evelyne, which I have in black and electric blue... crossbody, slim profile, casual, comfortable, with a front (or back pocket) and accessible through the top without a flap. Bonus points for being able to swap out the strap for alternatives. Other bags like this that work for me are the LV Bloomsbury and newer LV Odeon.

Smallish side of medium shoulder bags - either flap or camera.

Black, metallics, clear bright colors or jewel tones. Never earth tones - particularly muddy or tea stained colors.

Lamb, calf or goat skin. Never patent or vegan leather. Possibly cloth or straw.

No loud logos or brash styling. Nothing ultra trendy. Nothing boxy. Nothing unstructured or slouchy. No black holes.

Pre kids I loved small crossbody bags - celine trio, Gucci soho, lv favourite..those kinda ones for outings and tote style bags for work.
Now with two kids I prefer medium sized bags with top handle and a crossbody option so the speedy b25 is my go to. I surprisingly don’t have any other bags in this category so I’m on the lookout if anyone has a suggestion.

Crossbody, camera bags, with a zip are my favourite. I like odd shapes and unique designs. I'll do a flap over a zip on a camera bag if the design is nice enough, but don't like saddle bags.
I prefer slouch over structure, and all my bags have to be small. Totes overwhelm me and I never carry enough to use them.

I'll do most colours, but not anything in the beige/tan/brown family. It's not for me. I can do only specific shades of pink and red (like crushed raspberry or plum, but nothing too barbie or too brown-leaning like maroon). My favourites are blues!

Leather, not straw, pleather or patent. I'm interested in pineapple leather as an (ethical, sustainable) alternative, but have not done enough research on the environmental impact of production, nor have I been able to handle anything made with it. That's something I hope to explore in the future.

Also, nothing with a loud logo!

Medium-to-large shoulder or crossbody bags for me. I like flap bags and slouchier designs. Wide straps with a generous drop win major points, and the colors I prefer are black, brown, gray, navy, and deep green. I like pebbled and aged leathers that don't show every touch they've received, because I use my bags and am not even remotely graceful. In general, I lean toward understated bags and classic silhouettes.

Not a fan of top handles. I need full use of both hands. No tiny bags, because I need to carry things. Light colors are out, because I can't spare the brain power to worry about color transfer, and no cloth bags (exception made for sturdy coated canvas in a tote). I've had cloth baguettes from Fendi, and they didn't have staying power. I shy away from loud monogram prints and trends, because I don't trust myself to predict what might become a classic. If something I wear falls out of style within a season or two, it will make me look dated - and I already have the natural aging process to do that.

Small-medium sized, not structured/boxy, versatile straps that is removeable or adjustable, for shoulder and crossbody wear.

Small to medium (mostly small)
Non-black
Soft structured like my Tory Burch small Kira with the top handle
Top handle with a longer shoulder strap or a shoulder bag.

I used to love hobos, but now carry totes mostly. Medium to large for now, but I don't carry much in them.

I have shoulder/neck issues, so rarely carry leather, unless it is for a short amount of time. I like LV canvas and Longchamp nylon, lightweight.

I have ventured into smaller crossbody bags and top handle bags. Smaller would be better for me to carry for sure.

I have mostly neutrals, some monogram and a few colored bags.

I like slouchy, soft, but I need a bit more structure. Digging my things out of a black hole is making me cranky now and it never used to bother me! lol.
