I just got a medium Chanel 3 in red and large JM in black this Xmas and I am wishing for a reissue 226 in grey...well maybe next Xmas because there isn't one this season.

I'm trying to decide what to get the better half for Christmas. We've been looking at bags and she's narrowed it down to two that she likes but cannot make a call between them. She does not know I'm going to buy one of them for her for Christmas.
I could do with help making a decision so any comments/thoughts are appreciated.
The two bags she likes are the medallion tote in black http://forum.purseblog.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=340389&d=1201234399 and a Louis Vuitton Brea MM in amarante http://i53.tinypic.com/xek6q0.jpg. Give or take a few quid, they are the same price.
Over the past year I've already got her an LV neverfull MM and 255/medium in distressed leather. She's bought herself a woc in lambskin that she loves but worries about using it on a daily basis for fear of scratching the soft leather.
So the two bags in question are very different but equally nice in different ways. Should I go for the LV which is more 'adventurous' or the Chanel which is understated but as a daily bag looks great? She has a bad back so carrying the bag on her shoulder is preferred and while the Chanel has no strap, it will fit on her shoulder no problem. The bag would not be used for work etc., just shopping/daily stuff.
What does the combined wisdom of PF think?
