I've received cleaning cloths from jewelry purchases everytime, from Tiffanies, Cartier, etc. But I honestly never understood the purpose behind them. To me, it looks, feels, and acts exactly like a regular microfibre cloth I use to wipe my phone down with. Does it honestly help with scratches (or light scratches), or it just a gimmick? I don't see what properties the cloth give in order to remove scratches so if someone can explain to me I would appreciate it.

It helps with taking off the tarish silver can get and help protect it from future tarnishes it really works cleaned my Tiffany's necklace and made it look super new :) I think other cleaning clothes may be a gimmick but the Tiffany's ones truly work :)

That's funny because I actually have never had any silver jewelry tarnish before *cross finger, don't jinx* so I never understood the concept of the cleaning cloth.

I usually clean my pieces, gold or silver with soap and water to take off the oil and repair the shine. So I never really understood why people insist on polishing it with a cloth if it only removes oil which I can use soap for.

The cloth helps remove tarnish. U are lucky ur silver pieces dont tarnish. Maybe it is a body chemistry thing. For some people their silver jewellery tarnish quite quickly while others ( like yourself), not so much. My silver jewellery do tarnish, esp if i forget to remove them before showering

They're good to remove tarnish, but they're not really for removing scratches. Some have a polishing compound in them to fill in the scratches and make them less obvious though.
