Not to offend Pandora-lovers, but what I mean is the "standard" old-fashioned charm bracelet.
Mine is sterling silver, and I started it about 7 years ago. I don't buy many charms for it, though. I love the tinkly sound it makes! My Mom, who is British, once told me a childhood story about the first charm bracelet she ever saw--on the local Postmistress--in the Birmingham, England post office. (I think she was the Postmistress--or perhaps a clerk?) Anyway, the lady always wore 2 charm bracelets. Mom was fascinated by the lady's graceful hand movements and the accompanying charm bracelet tinkling!
Mine has:
1. 4- leaf clover
2. large heart, with a tiny diamond (hubby!)
3. Cheetah--in memory of a my best friend, who died in 2002 of cancer. She LOVED cheetahs
4. Star of David
5. Stack of pancakes (hubby makes the most delicious banana/pecan ones for me each week!)
6. Teacup and saucer
7. An old luggage tag (?) from our family (someone knew the person or something): "Glenloch, PA 1900, F. P. Reitenbaugh."
8. Horseshoe
9. Pistol (I shoot with hubby)
10.Rabbit
11. 2000
12. Marine Corps insignia (hubby is a Marine)
13.Winged Isis (I love ancient Egyptian history)
14. Bird's nest with eggs (I love birding)
15. Parasol (I used to collect and restore antique ones for Civil War reenacting)
16. Lion (my zodiac sign)
17.American flag
18. Jack O-Lantern (Halloween is my favorite holiday)
19.Shoes (recovering shoe-a-holic here)
20."Gettysburg, PA"--where we honeymooned (former Civil War reenactors--and I spent LOTS of time there in the hobby--pretty town, BTW)
I plan to make a separate bracelet with hubby's name and all of our past & present cats' names. I may need to be creative with the cat names, though. It make be hard to find a pre-made charm with "Smudge" on it!
To paraphrase Capitol One's slogan, "What' on YOUR charm bracelet?"
