Not to offend Pandora-lovers, but what I mean is the "standard" old-fashioned charm bracelet. :D

Mine is sterling silver, and I started it about 7 years ago. I don't buy many charms for it, though. I love the tinkly sound it makes! My Mom, who is British, once told me a childhood story about the first charm bracelet she ever saw--on the local Postmistress--in the Birmingham, England post office. (I think she was the Postmistress--or perhaps a clerk?) Anyway, the lady always wore 2 charm bracelets. Mom was fascinated by the lady's graceful hand movements and the accompanying charm bracelet tinkling!

Mine has:
1. 4- leaf clover
2. large heart, with a tiny diamond (hubby!)
3. Cheetah--in memory of a my best friend, who died in 2002 of cancer. She LOVED cheetahs
4. Star of David
5. Stack of pancakes (hubby makes the most delicious banana/pecan ones for me each week!)
6. Teacup and saucer
7. An old luggage tag (?) from our family (someone knew the person or something): "Glenloch, PA 1900, F. P. Reitenbaugh."
8. Horseshoe
9. Pistol (I shoot with hubby)
10.Rabbit
11. 2000
12. Marine Corps insignia (hubby is a Marine)
13.Winged Isis (I love ancient Egyptian history)
14. Bird's nest with eggs (I love birding)
15. Parasol (I used to collect and restore antique ones for Civil War reenacting)
16. Lion (my zodiac sign)
17.American flag
18. Jack O-Lantern (Halloween is my favorite holiday)
19.Shoes (recovering shoe-a-holic here)
20."Gettysburg, PA"--where we honeymooned (former Civil War reenactors--and I spent LOTS of time there in the hobby--pretty town, BTW)

I plan to make a separate bracelet with hubby's name and all of our past & present cats' names. I may need to be creative with the cat names, though. It make be hard to find a pre-made charm with "Smudge" on it!

To paraphrase Capitol One's slogan, "What' on YOUR charm bracelet?"

Our Kodak program doesn't work, so I can't upload photos (haven't been able to for months! Wish hubby would fix it...) Also, I don't think it would photograph well--all of those jingly hanging things. It's nothing special in terms of looks--it's nice, but nothing exciting. Thank you for the compliment, though!

Mine is just starting out. I have:
1. 18th birthday charm with a shamrock - I got the bracelet and charm from my friends for my 18th birthday
2. London taxi - Bought in Harrods on a trip to London with friends
3. Champagne bottle - bought in Belfast for getting my required grades for university.

Hopefully this year I'll be adding a 21 and a graduation cap. Maybe another shamrock for the new job in Dublin.

Great thread idea! I'd love to see pics of the bracelets listed above. They all sound lovely.

I have many charm bracelets; two were my MIL's whom I loved dearly. Here are the bracelets I have with me right now (click the thumbnails for Gigantour versions):

HEART CHARMS:

This one is pretty self-explanatory. It's all hearts and lampwork glass beads; the hearts are a combination of guilloche, china, enamel, and sterling. I like having a big mélange of pink and green tones.

MIL's GOLD BRACELET:

I got this bracelet after my dear MIL passed away, so I don't know the reason behind many of the charms.

1. Gold flakes in glass - because she grew up in Colorado's Gold Country
2. Heart with pearl - unknown
3. Coca Cola bottle - she loved Coca Cola and would never settle for Pepsi
4. Heart and crown - unknown
5. Lapis cabochon - unknown
6. Gemini twins - she was a Gemini
7. Enamel cross - I think this is from a sorority. It's a pin but she had it put on her charm bracelet.
8. Enamel pennant - I think this is from a sorority or some other organization.
9. USA Capitol building - she worked in government
10. Nefertiti - I think she went to the Tutenkamen exhibit when the treasures were first discovered.
11. Cable Car - I love that she had this as San Francisco is my favorite city.
12. & 13. Gold coins from Canada - unknown.

PEARL & GOLD CHARM BRACELET:

I love pearls and always wanted a charm bracelet with pearls on the links, so I had one made.

1. Small heart - a gift from my late MIL
2. Italian horn - a good luck charm given to me by my late nona.
3. Knot with diamond - a gift from my late MIL. She purchased it in France for me.
4. Ribbon with pink sapphire - this is over 100 years old. It was given to my MIL by a Portugese couple with whom she worked.
5. Cupid - I bought this when a friend died. He loved life and this cupid reminds me of him.
6. Tri-colored rose with diamond - a gift from a friend.
7. Heart locket - a gift from DH
8. Madonna & child - a gift from my nona.
9. Italian horn, again - a good luck charm. I don't know where it came from; these are ubiquitous among my family.
10. Australian opal - a gift from my late father.
11. Heart locket - DH's first ever gift to me.
12. Opal koala bear - gift from my late father (he traveled to Australia frequently when I was a child)
13. Puffy heart - a gift from DH.

I have a Tiffany charm bracelet and a classic silver charm bracelet. They have charms for when I graduated, my Art degree, my wedding, cats, Tennis, shopping and a few from different places I have been. They are fun!
