What's a good Louboutin to start with?

OP, you must be my long lost twin or something. I'm also 5' 2", petite, size 6. I was in your position 2 months ago and have learned a lot from these ladies just by lurking. I wanted something black for work so it needed to be lower key than some of the fabulous shoe-porn on here, and since it was also for spring/summer I wanted open-toe or heel instead of a true pump. Simples are a little too simple for me. I got the black patent You You 85s and love them although haven't had a chance to wear them IRL yet. It's not a shoe referenced on here very much, but as the ladies have said, you just need to go with what will work for you.

And then once you decide on the black, you'll then have to start trying to find your perfect nude, because it will not stop with one pair...

I will check those out.. thanks so much for your advice!!! I do love the nude ones too.

I would certainly suggest dropping by Barney's, Saks, NM or Nordstrom and tring on a few styles. The comfort level varies vastly...some may not fit you at all... others you will find very easy to wear for lengths of time.

Also, consider what your shopping for...work, everyday, special occassions... girls night out.

Happy Hunting and Welcome!!

Don't know if I replied to you last night.. but thanks so much. Not sure if nordies near my home has cl, but I will definitely check them out!!!

I just want one that I can wear to as many occasions as I can. It's been 3 years since I bought a fancy black shoe, so it's time to get a new one and knowing me, I will get use out of it in either case!!! As long as it's not 5 inches... haha.

I am totally lusting over laboutins now. I want one, I have to have one!!!

What is a good one to start out with.. I don't want something with too high a heel. I think 5 inches is too much for me. I'm only 5-2" and fairly petite.. anything with too high a heel will feel ridiculous on me, I think. I just want a nice, black pair, size 6... something simple and without too much adornments. Nothing too pointy toed either, and again, nothing too tall. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!!

your description i think fits exactly a SIMPLE pump. (that's the name).... i think black patent or nude patent would be nice for a basic first pair. it comes in 70mm or 85mm (i think that equals 2-3 inches), as well as 100mm (4 inches).... i've heard they're very comfy.... frankly not my style (i tend to be a bit more on the colorful/flamboyant side), but i think it will suit your purposes to a T! good luck and welcome to the addiction!

I said i would FEEL ridiculous. I didn't say I'd look ridiculous. I have 3 children and am not some young 20 year old thing, and i normally just wear flats or sneakers, so yeah, I would feel silly wearing 5 inches heels. Why are you so freaking defensive? I said nothing about the way YOU'd look, much less myself. Goodness.

Anyways.. I did say in another post that I didn't want a pointy shoe. I would prefer something more round but not perfectly round, and something without a 5 inch heel. i actually like slingbacks, and open toed shoes, but i also like the classic pump too. i don't have a strong preference either way but any fitting that description is good.

i'm sensing there are no classic louboutins to be directed to? or maybe most of you don't know what the classic ones even are?
^^This is definitely not the way to get help with that response.

WOW! Defensive?! You cannot be serious. You totally took what I said the wrong way!! I was the one that was actually trying to help direct you names of ones. You are not the only one on here with kids that wear heels. Look around. I was asking you questions about what styles fit you best to offer more advice, you obviously missed that part.

You go right ahead and search for you laboutins or however you spelled that.

Here we go ;)

^Great post... visuals always help. It sounds like (I'm making an assumption based on what I've read here) like you want a very basic, simple, everyday kind of shoe. The simple pump or Ron Ron would probably be best... they come in 70mm, 80mm and 100mm. If you prefer a lower heel height, the first two might be best. Good luck! :flowers:

Awwww poor newbie. We're not really that tough of a crowd. The girls here are very helpful and mean well. Check out the threads that jet suggested and dani's post should help you with what the classics look like. Yes, many of us know what classics are so you can rely on our advice. I think the Simple, New Simple and Ron Ron in black patent would suit your needs. Try them on before buying as sizing isn't consistent. The sizing thread here could help you too. Good luck!

Ok here Is the Ron Ron :flowers: have Fun with the kiz !!!!!!!

I was the same way. I should say, I AM the same way. I didn't know what to buy, so I am trying a few different. For some reason I LOVE the RON RON style, but I can't find them in black leather anywhere. I am hoping I can just be patient and wait until I find them. For now I have ordered a pair of 100mm Black leather simples. I will post pics when i receive them tomorrow! I wanted something that I could wear with everything. I found some amazing glitter ron ron's from Barneys, and I want them SOO BADLY. Apart of me thinks if I am splurging for a shoe I should buy something very unique. Then the other part of me thinks I should buy something I can wear with anything. I guess you just have to find a reason to justify it (whatever you decide) Good luck

thank you sooo much!!! somebody else mentioned the simple too, and it's great to know it comes in different heel sizes as well

i don't think i can afford 10 pairs so i definitely want to start with one classic style first and then i'll eventually expand my collection to more fun styles, but this is a great start, thanks!

ooh, thanks so much, these are all soooo beautiful!!! i can't wait to get my first pair of louboutins. ooooo, ooo, ooooo.

one question.. is there a cl that is like the simple but has a little bit of a platform, to make it a little more modern looking? the peep toe is very nice too.. it's going to be really hard for me to pick my first one!
