I cannot believe my lucky fortune!...Hubby and I are going to the Grammys in February! This is definitely a once-in a lifetime thing for me...so now faced with a wardrobe dilemma....what to wear?

I've just started to look around for ideas, but instead of me asking you what I should wear, I want to ask you, what would YOU wear, if you were going to such an event?

I would love to see your great ideas!
I don't plan on spending much...so I may have to dream vicariously through your choice of outfits

Since I'm on the short and slim side...Petite Ladies...your inputs will be especially welcome!

TIA!

Thanks Numb! I forgot about Eva.. I will look her up

Thanks HermesNewbie...I figure I should try to grab something now since there are a lot of sale on festive outfits

Oooh wow! CONGRATS!!! Must be sooo exciting! I'm jealous haha lol

I dunno, if it were me, the first designer I think of is Marchesa lol

Others? Rachel Gilbert, Elie Saab, Erdem, and Lanvin are my favorites
I like long flowy gowns. You can always take a look online and ask a couturière to make an inspired version too!

Have fun and please post lots of pix if you can!!! Would love to see your final ensemble too!

If I was going to the Grammy's, I'd wear my favorite Herve leger, a pair of Christian Louboutin heels, and my Chanel clutch. Chic & simple.
Congrats on going to the Grammy's. That's awesome:smile:

THIS. I would definitely find a way to get this dress...

Halter Gown with Leather Bodice

I would wear this in a heartbeat. I absolutely LOVE this dress. It's something I can see an artist wearing. You'll be mingling with the stars, why not dress like them!

I know the above is super specific but really I'd prefer to wear an amazing gown (because when else can you and they're so glamorous) but I'd stay away from anything too poofy or overdone, like a prom-dress type style.

I love edgier stuff (stand out or get lost in the crowd!) so I'd love any of these too:

I think less is better; a simple well cut gown in a colour that complements your skin tone, would be perfect.:flowers:That is what I would wear, because like you I would have no intention on spending a fortune on a dress, and unlike the celebs I won't have the chance to get a gown on loan. So focus on a dress that makes you look tall and slender and pehaps get a proffessioal updo? I am an idiot when it comes to my hair so someone doing my hair for an event is a must!!!:P

Funny, I thought of Marchesa too
But way out of my budget for sure...my thread should read "Grammys on a shoestring budget lol"

Are you going to go long or short? Couture or contemporary?
I will be going short and contemporary

Thanks for your inspirations - love your picks!

For color, I would like to stay away from black, to get some contrast with my Asian black hair ...I love cool colors - purples, blues, pinks, nudes and greys....I agree on the hair..I would not have a clue what to do with it either :P

Thanks all for your input!

if you would be short and contemporary... then with your asian looks and long hair.. you can just pick anything.. i love to mix and match rather than one dress.
and don't forget the SHOES.... which i always feel will make or break an outfit!
i love love diane kruger.. maybe i could look up some of her winning looks!
i also love the avatar actress that for the life of me .. i cant remember her name!

Thanks amacasa!

I'm really going practical on my choice and want a piece that I can remix into my wardrobe. I certainly don't live a glamorous lifestyle...I work from home, live in a small city where BCBG is the top shopping spot. And the only place I dress up for is church :P

That said, BCBG is more my budget..and they have a great sale on right now.

I tried this dress one, and it fit like a glove:

I also tried the bright pink version of this, and I like it as well
http://www.bcbg.com/product/index.j...81.2769162.2768993&view=all&parentPage=family

I would not mind buying a long gown, as long as I can cut if up (gasp!) to transform it into a dress.

Maybe you guys can also pitch in and let me know if you like any of the pieces on BCBG's site

LOOOVEEE that navy dress

please post pics

on the bcbg site, love the Rachael, ray and the nude bustier dress...

would probably try to tame these dresses with a black blazer that's tailored and a bit soft on the edges and shorter than regular blazers...
then some killer heels...

please do take pics once you try these dresses on so we could help you better!;)

I think we have the same taste! The Rachael (burnt orange dress) was the first thing that caught my eye on the site. But they don't have it at my local store.
