I am returning my recent purchase because it’s defective. This is the first time I’ve had to return something. Customer service said I needed to put the Christmas packaging back in the box and unfortunately I sealed and labeled my return package then looked over and noticed I had not replaced the shopping bag….

Would you open up and then tape shut or keep the shopping bag?

Since customer service specifically said that you need to return the Christmas packaging, I would open it up and re-tape. Why tempt trouble?

Why on earth would they require you to put the packaging back? Do people actually make purchases JUST for the Xmas packaging? So weird. But, like mentioned above, I would open up and put it back, because that's what CS specifically requested you do.

I would keep the shopping bag without doubt, I can't imagine the warehouse employees will know which order came with a shopping bag and which not. If you return in store you won't have to give it back either.
