My husband proposed with a tiffany solitaire.. it is between .8 and .9 carats.. he just upgraded my ring to a non tiffany 2.5carat with a halo tht is much more me.. but what should i do with my tiffany?? My jeweler would just buy it back for its gold and diamond so i would lose all of the value of the Tiffany name.. i live in dubai and havent seen any tiffany resellers here.. my husband says just keep it in a safe deposit box but tht seems pointless.. what would you ?

I would reset it into another piece of jewelry as a side stone on a right hand ring. I am similar to you, I received a Lazare diamond as my engagement ring, .83ct. I upgraded to a Tiffany. I was going to sell the .83ct but my husband said save it, you might be able use it in a custom piece in the future as the money is already spent.

He was correct... I had a custom emerald ring made, and the .83ct diamond went in as one of the side stones. It worked out great, and my husband was also super excited we were able to reuse the diamond.

Congratulations on your upgrade!
I am in the same shoes as you. My husband proposed to me with Tiffany solitaire under 1ct 12 years ago and then got me an upgrade of no branded GIA diamond 1.75 ct. I no longer wear my Tiffany but decided to keep it for the sentimental value.
I have two boys so maybe I can give one each to my future daughter-in-law... haha..
