I agree with the above responses! Buy a watch that "wows" you and speaks to you. Don't worry about others. Also, I like the idea of a colorful watch for your age. I know a lot of the younger people in this area wear Fossil and Michael Kor's watches. I have seen some great buys at TJ Maxx on both of these brands, especially in colors. I wish you the best with your decision!!
When I was 16, I was into Swatch and Guess watches in fun, bright colors and designs.
Not sure what your price range is, but I'd suggest that you go to the mall and try on different watches from different brands within your budget and get whatever makes you smile when you have it on!

Um...this original poster is 16....I think getting a Rolex for any 16 year old is ridiculous.
I can tell you right now, my parents would have NEVER gotten me a Rolex when I was 16, regardless of financial standing. I understand that my parents are not hers, but that is still a ridiculous statement. If my son turns 16 and asks for a Rolex, I'll laugh my head off. Do you realize what MOST 16 year olds do with their things???
OP - Michael Kors makes great watches (I believe some posted that already), they are made by Fossil who makes most "designer" watches that you see in department stores. If you wanted to go on a little higher end, I would suggest Bulova. Bulova was one of my first watches when I was a teenager and I loved it. If getting a "designer label" is more your thing, Gucci makes excellent watches as does D&G, and they aren't terribly expensive.
