What to wear with this dress to a wedding?

Totally different thought - but if you want to conceal the marks on your legs - and want to look sort of summery - why not a ballet length chiffon or silk floaty thingy skirt and a body-concious close fitting top. You don't say how far down the leg the marks go, but assuming they stop above the ankle, you could wear pretty sandals. The dress you are looking at is pretty, but a short dress forces you to wear opaque or dark colors and a closed shoe, and the overall look is wintery.

I'm getting a nice image here but, wouldn't a longer skirt make me look even shorter?

Any suggestion on how to make the overall look of the red dress more summery? Adding colorful accessories and carrying a nice clutch maybe? I'm not very good at this!

^ I am 5'4 and I wear long skirts all the time. as for black - I have seen plenty of people wear black to weddings - only NOT if they are immediate family, kwim? so don't worry.

i like the idea of the colourful tights though - they should have these in a dept store? if you do go with the black tights though - wear the nine west heels in patent leather or the satin ones you found on zappos. forget trying to make the whole thing summery - just add a nice black or red clutch and a pair of black sunnies (that is summery after all and very fashionable!). I would not mix too many colours like tan, gold etc, except for jewelry of course, because it will be too much.

if you want a more summery look - take a different dress. I wear long dresses for both a b-day and a wedding and as I said I am not that tall. with heels it can look great. you could take a long dress with a nice cleavage in summery colours style. if they reveal too much leg you could always have the tailor turn a slit into a box pleat - this is what I do because I don't like to reveal any leg either. it would certainly be very lady-like and elegant if you ask me.

maybe something like this:

you could team it with a cropped jacket for the church - btw, this is just for inspiration, I realise it is quite long. I always shorten dresses....

I think this one is amazing but I realise it is quite expensive... would look great with gold though!

if you prefer another colour than the green.

btw, just some suggestions - enjoy the wedding!

No, actually, if you shop carefully, it may make you look taller. Do this, ok?: keep the lines vertical. Sleeveless, vneck, close to the body on top, same overall color as skirt (or make it a dress, even better.) Choose sandals in very delicate, very thin straps that are the color of your skin and not the color of the dress. If you have a tan, either gold or bronze sandals will do this. The dress can have a belt, but same color as the dress except for a center ornament. Even better, a silk satin ribbon in the exact color of the dress. Do not interrupt any lines with contrast color, do not let shoes interrupt the color of your ankle and foot. You will look much taller than you would in a miniskirt. A miniskirt on a tall woman looks provacative. On a small woman it looks
