For those of you who have upgraded your e-ring, what do you do with your original e-ring? Do you turn it into a pendant? I'd like to wear my e-ring as a pendant but I want to somehow change the ring into pendant instead of resetting it because if I reset it then I will have an empty platinum setting. I'd like to wear all the ring including the setting as a pendant but I don't know how I can convert it. (It is a simple 6 prong Tiffany style setting.) But I'm so torn because part of me does not want to alter the ring.

What have you done or are thinking to do with your original e-ring after your upgrade?

Each time I've traded up, I've traded in my old diamond for credit toward the new one. I've basically gotten what I paid for the old diamond, but of course it's in less valued dollars each time. I don't really want a diamond solitaire necklace, so I really didn't have any use for the old diamonds.

If you want to keep the original, setting and all, wear it when you don't want to attract so much attention with the upgrade! I think I would do a pendant although already have soltaire necklaces and earrings myself.

I'd love to wear my upgrade and my orig. e-ring because I love both stones, so that is why I was thinking of doing a pendant. But I somehow want to make the whole ring, setting and all, into a pendant--not sure if this is even possible.

I can't picture it, but if you figure out a way to do it- definately let us know- It's something I'd love to do when the time comes.

Hmmm...the only way I can picture it is if you leave the diamond in the actual setting part (basket or whatever) and then take the band part and have that form a ring around the diamond. Kinda like one of these, only have your band part of the ring be the diamond circle part of this pendant style

but have your diamond in the center.

As for my original...I still have mine, and it was up until recently still set and I still wore it. Now I wear my three stone and a plain band as my wedding set. I might reset my diamond in a pendant, but I would never part with it.

When I traded up, I just traded the stone -- not the entire ring. So, my original stone is set as a solitaire pendant. I like having it as a "set" with my e-ring. I get compliments on my solitaire pendant quite often -- even just last night as a matter of fact. If you can somehow do a pendant -- I would!

I've upgraded a few times  and we traded up every time. Takes a bite out of the bigger price tag, which is nice! And you get to appreciate the increased value of your investment! (I think we're done with the upgrades now!)

Find someone who does custom jewelry and have them use your setting and your stone to make a cocktail ring or a pendant. My brother did that with some of my grandfather's jewelry - he said it made sense that way because grandpa's jewelry would be worn now, instead of laying around in a jewelry box. I thought that was a really good way to look at it.

In a 6 prong Tiffany-style, you could also have a halo of sapphires or emeralds or something put around it.
