What should my first pair of designer jeans be?

CandyJanney, I wouldn't worry too much about not washing those before hemming. I've found that better quality clothing doesn't get funky after washing- if the hem turns up and inside out, take it back to the alteration place- they may have stitched it too tight.
Congrats on your jeans! I've already bought my second pair (I now proudly own a pair of CoH's and Joe's!).
