What should my first designer handbag be?

Hello, I’m very excited to be purchasing my first luxury handbag but I’m torn between getting a crossbody bag, a tote or a shoulder bag. I’m currently looking at getting either the LV Neverfull, YSL Small LouLou or the YSL Mini Lou Camera Bag. I know they’re all very different bags and I love them all equally so I hope to eventually get them all.
I’m in Uni and need to carry a laptop and tablet etc, I do a lot of traveling and I also go out a lot so I would like something that can go from day to night. I’m afraid that if I get the Neverfull I won’t use it as much since its a tote and I prefer to wear crossbodies outside of school and travel. Any suggestions?

I swear by my neverfulls and I have no idea why I waited soooo long to get my first. It took me about 11 years before I got my first. I now have 13.

I highly highly highly recommend it. You can toss everything in it. It has the pochette that you could use as a clutch for night. You could also purchase a Felicie if u need a small crossbody which you can toss in the Neverfull.

Most people love the speedy b. I have 2 speedy b in 30. Tahitienne and Trunks. I never use them. I’m not a fan but I am may be the only person who doesn’t like them.

My crossbody is the Bloomsbury which is retired now. I swear by that bag too.

I love my 2 Neverfulls! Especially for school/work they are perfect. I have a small Crossbody in them for lunchtime out of the office.
My first bag was the Speedy B 25 in DE. I can wear this bag on the shoulder, crossbody, by hand and because it‘s DE no worries about rain or so. And it‘s pretty secure. But it won‘t fit a laptop and such things and since I have other bags I don‘t reach often to it, I now prefer other styles.
It‘s hard to find one bag for day/laptop and night out, but the NF has the Pochette, that‘ll work for night outs!

My first designer bag was the Speedy 25 in monogram, which I highly recommend. I still use it and love it. If I were you I’d get the Speedy B in either the 25 or 30. I have both sizes but in the classic style without the strap. It can be used multiple ways and it’s such a statement piece. Classic shape! Good luck!

At first you have to decide what kind of bag you want.
If everyday bag the YSL are too tiny and possibly not for Uni, but are great special occasion bags.
NF on the otherside can help with the uni stuff and carry laptops and ipads, however it's not a versatile enough bag to be seen in an evening.
Depends if you want or have an inexpensive bag you can use as everyday or occasion then buy the other designer

I have the Neverfull as my work bag (day) and at most only go for afterwork drinks (night) with it, but really I rather be out with a crossbody bag

It sounds like you would need 2 separate bags actually.

I would suggest that you get the LV Neverfull for now because of your needs now, and everything will certainly change once you leave college, and that’s the time where you will find that you don’t need such a big bag. Since the Nevefull is kind of a permanent staple you can either keep it or if you decide to sell you will not make too big a loss then. (This is speaking from experience, I am kicking myself for not getting a Speedy 35/40 or a Neverfull GM then during my uni days and now I am left with a huge and expensive leather bag sitting in the corner of my room which I rarely use)

But if you have a separately laptop bag or something then maybe you can get the Small Loulou or the Camera bag for double-bagging. However it’s always best to start your collection with LV or Chanel.

There are a lot of ppl though who just take the small pouch of the NF with phone key essentials to go out evenings and leave the bag in the car, so it might work.
However never in a million years would I leave a designer handbag in the car, even if it is the NF xD

Exactly! So I'll just lug it around with me. I got my Neverfull long time ago and it didn't come with the small pouch then
