So my Grandma just gave me a lot of money which, according to her, I'm not supposed to save or use to buy "useful" stuff with. She wants me to buy "pretty stuff" because she apparently felt bad that she couldn't afford all the pretty things when she was my age.
However, I'm 22 and an undergraduate, I'll be studying abroad later this year+ next year so I really don't want to splurge too much, even though she wants me to. I do like jewelry a lot and so does she so I thought it would be nice to get one or two timeless pieces that I can wear for the rest of my life.

I know if I would wear her jewelry that would be more personal but she only owns gold jewelry and I personally don't like the look of gold on my skin (I'm very pale with dark hair&eyes). She gave me two of her rings with small diamonds a couple years ago because they were too small for her but I honestly never wear them, they just sit in my jewelry box.

So.. any suggestions? Perhaps I should add that I got my ears pierced at age 20 so my earring-collection is fairly small.
I really like those, does anyone own them& could provide a better picture? I won't be able to visit a Tiffany's anytime soon.

I agree with the diamond studs idea. You cannot go wrong with them, and wear them everyday. The dbty earrings are nice, but if you do not have a nice set of studs, I would get the studs first. There are several online places that you can select your own diamonds for the studs (briangavindiamonds.com, bluenile.com, etc). I also recommend a nice watch such as a Cartier Tank. Not sure what your budget is though.

The one you posted the link for I really like, I love the diamond by the yard and color by the yard collections by Elsa Peretti. Anything can work that you like it just has to be set in white gold or platinum, I have the same coloring as you.
