I purchased an item on eBay that was listed as an authentic Louis Vuitton piece for $300. The second I opened it I was pretty sure that it was fake. I am mediately reached out to the seller and told her that I was having it authenticated, but I was pretty sure it was fake And she replied that she would be happy to refund me. I sent it to pro authenticators, and it came back as inauthentic. I told the seller and she refunded me, I then requested a return label at her cost and she sent it to me.

so I’m a little caught as to what to do. On the one hand, she sold me a fake piece! On the other, she was very cooperative and proactive when I pointed this out and wanted to return it. It’s hard for me to believe that anyone would have not known this was fake if they had any level of sophistication with Louis Vuitton, but she may not have had any. For example, the box had Chinese writing on it! So, I’m not sure if she really knew it was fake or not.

what would you leave for Feedback?

I would leave a negative rating based on selling a fake bag. You went to the trouble of having it authenticated. This would help other buyers and I think that this is important.

Under comments you could state that the seller was very cooperative and allowed you to return the bag without any additional hassle. Based on your comments other buyers might still take a chance on other items.

I just don’t see how you could leave positive or even neutral comments for a fake bag.

$300 is not much for an authentic piece but a fake is not worth someone's spit.

IMO, she let you return it because she wanted the bag back to sell again. My primary concern would be (after the full refund) not to let someone who would be less circumspect have the heartache of buying a fake bag (wherever/however she sells it). I would give a negative score but explain the truth 1. The item was fake (that's why the neg feedback) 2. The seller was cooperative.

To clarify, she did not tell me a bag, it was an SLG. Hence why the $300 price didn’t automatically alarm me. It was a fair price for the SLG if it had been genuine.

thank you to all of you who took time to give me your sage advice!

I would leave a negative feedback.

Most of the people or companies selling fake merchandise are well-aware of the origin of their stock. Very few sellers are actually honest people who had no idea. The fact that she agreed to a refund without question speaks volumes about her knowing the item was fake. Can you imagine if you had sold something you thought was authentic and the buyer accused you of selling a fake? You would've asked questions. Also, if this SLG is fake, then it was most likely made in China, and the Chinese characters on the box it came in suggest that the seller is also in China, or had purchased the bag there and it had come in that same box. All the more reason to believe that the seller knew full well what she was selling. And I'll bet she's going to list the item again as soon as she gets it back, probably at an even higher price, to make up for the shipping expenses.

Also, speaking of expenses... I assume the seller didn't offer to reimburse you for the authentication? So far none of this has been anything but headache for you. This transaction is perfectly deserving of a negative rating.
