My bags are usually on the mid to larger size with compartments like Maggie, Phoebe and other brands. I'm trying to pick out a bag for when I'm going to an arts & crafts fair or a wine festival or some other half-day/day event where I don't want to carry my big bag with everything in it, but still want to carry essentials like my wallet, phone, a few make-up items, sunglasses, possibly DH's phone and sunglasses, etc.

I don't care about compartments, want something smaller than Phoebe, but not too small (I think those swingpacks are cute but probably too small). Was looking at the Madison Convertible Hipster, but maybe that's too big and will look bumpy with the type of stuff I want to put inside. The Madision Top Handle Pouch looks cute, haven't seen it irl to tell how big it is. Hmm...maybe a small tote would be good? Just curious what type of bags you ladies like to carry in situations like this.

How about a mini tanner? My outlet had the black saffiano mini tanner, and I am thinking I need it for situations exactly like these :graucho:

I use my saffiano Mini Tanner for outings like that. In addition to all what you mentioned I was able to squeese even a bottle of water in it. Very convenient little bag.

Right now there are saffiano Mini Tanners on sale in most outlets and department stores.

I use with my black studded mini tanner or my madison chain crossbody....

Thanks ladies! I don't think I've ever seen this style before (kind of a newbie to all the styles). Just looked up pics and I think it would suit my needs well. Very cute! Even better if I can get it on sale. :p

I love that you were able to even squeeze a water in the mini tanner. Thanks ladies, I've gotta make an outlet trip tomorrow to get one now! I love that they had the saff, since it's a little more durable for certain events! :)

For a little more casual events, I have used a willis, an older style madison swingpack (it is actually surprisingly roomy!), and on the smaller side a legacy mini saddle bag. I've also carried my textured legacy duffle, its large, but i've never had a problem with it's weight and it's easy to carry crossbody. For other more formal events, I've carried the poppy quilted crossbody bag, or a mini tanner, or the urbane crossbody.

I don't have one, but the new madison hobo looks to be a pretty nice size and easy to wear with shoulder and crossbody options. That might be one to look at.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'm going to check them all out!

I like a duffle for day trips - it's easy to carry (crossbody) and fits everything I need/want (wallet, phone, umbrella, kindle, keys, moisturisers, etc)! I also like my small Sadie (it's bigger than a swingpack and fits a surprising amount of things), but I find it's more formal than casual...

Otherwise I think the mini tanner suggested above would work great too, especially the saffiano version!

Thanks for the suggestions! I normally don't do cross body stuff, but for day trips I would. Will look at duffles!

One of my haileys fit the bill for a day when I leave the kitchen sink at home 😉 it has the option to be use the short handle on my shoulder or use the cross body strap.
