Fell in love with vintage coach bags shortly discovering them only a few years ago. Prices then were much less expensive where I could find bags easily for $50 to $100 Cdn including shipping and duties. Now that Coach Retail is marketing them and reselling them for huge $$$$ like almost four figures, finding prices have jumped on the resell market. Trying to keep my limit still to $100 Cdn with shipping and duties included.

I started my deep dive into vintage Coach about 6 years ago and my budget was pretty modest then. And I was able to find some nice bags at great prices. Scoured a lot of listings. Now I have a better idea I’d what I like or would like to try out. I would probably be willing to spend up to $200 for something fabulous, but there are a few styles I like to test drive and I can’t see myself paying more than a Ben for them. The vast majority of my bags have been under $75 US shipped. I haven’t bought many in the last year since prices went another level of crazy pants.

It depends on the item, desired color, and condition. Most of the time, I try not to spend over 75 as well, but some hard to find ones I may spend more. It is interesting to see how Coach's Vintage Reloved program has changed the resale pricing landscape, but hopefully most items I still can find some options for reasonably priced bags if I remember to be patient.:doh:

Totally agree! I love colours and would spend more on those than the regular black or brown. I would love to find a lavender, HTF purple, jade, tangerine, yellow, glacier blue, grey or lime green in my price range, but alas….I guess it is not meant to be yet…

I would spend up to $275 on a bag in minty condition. I'd rather pay more for something that has already been taken care of as far as restoration than do it myself. I don't like doing more than light cleaning and conditioning myself. This said, I don't want to pay much for a bag with ink stains or a history of mold.

Speaking of limits, I was watching this periwinkle ergo on eBay….just a couple of hours ago it was $60-something and now it’s up to over $180. That just blew past my limit real fast.
There are definitely some bags where sellers do not know how valuable their bag is to collectors. I remember last year seeing some vintage Winnie bags going from a low starting bid of $20 and ending up in the $600 range by the time auction ended. People also love periwinkle. I definitely do, but just can’t justify spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on one since their conditions are hit and miss and do not rehab that well without paint.

I got a periwinkle Sonoma for a reasonable price.

I have an affinity for burgundy vintage coach. My first coach , 1988, was a burgundy shoulder sac with my initials stamped, and a burgundy chunky case. Also burgundy coach belt. Still have them all to this day. It’s rare to see a vintage burgundy coach for sale today. if I see one it’s always priced a little more than say black. I’ll pay up to $250 depending on condition

My 1999 currant Rambler's Legacy is the most perfect burgundy color and the leather is divine.

I enjoy rehabbing but because I started doing it this year, I missed the boat for vintage Coach bags that are in need of TLC being under $50.

I keep a spreadsheet of my purse collections with information about each bag. For my vintage Coach collection, out of 22 bags (so far), one of my columns is final cost (what I paid + taxes + S&H) and on average I have paid $68.

The least I have paid (using final cost) is $32 ($18.50 bid, $13.50 taxes + s&h) for a 1998 Mahogany cosmetic pouch from the Tribeca collection. The most I have paid is $79 ($53 BIN, $26 taxes + s&h) for a circa ~1983-1988 British Tan Convertible Clutch.

I do have some wishlist Coach items and an idea of the max I would pay for them. While I haven’t broken the $100 barrier yet, if I saw one of the bags I have been hunting for, and depending on the condition, I would be willing to pay for it (within some reason, depending on production year, color, condition)

The thrift stores around me do not put out name brand bags. And if it is a name brand, it has either been out behind the counter or posted online these days. So eBay is the only place I have purchased vintage Coach, but the shipping and handling costs that people charge for these bags gets really ridiculous sometimes. If I were to cut out the cost of s&h my bags would have averaged closer to $47 each.
