Bakelite is a type of plastic, here's some more information about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakelite

It's heavier than "regular" plastic and some very cool vintage jewelry pieces were made from Bakelite.

ok, when reading this, I ended up a little confused...are you getting a white watch? I get OBSESSED w/ watches too. a lot of girls on the forum have rolexes and tags, which I'd love, but i'm, economically, more at the movodo, swiss army level
