Hi All! Just wondering what everyone's favorite category of accessory? Bags, shoes, jewelry (if so, which specifically, earrings/bracelets/rings) and so on.

My favorite accessories are eyeglasses. Since my vision has to be corrected, I either have to wear glasses or contacts but I strongly prefer glasses as I never could get used to putting in contacts. Because glasses are literally on your face and circle your eyes, they are what people see first when they look at your face. They have to look through your frames to see your eyes as they talk with you. So, I consider glasses to be the most important accessory that I wear.

Because of their visibility (no pun intended haha), there is nothing more important to keep current. Of course they have to be flattering to your face, but they need to stay current and appropriate for where you work and live. Nothing dates and ages a person faster or more definitively than outmoded eyewear.

They are a wonderful way to express your personality too. I personally like frames that have a little edge to them, either in the overall shape, or the color/pattern (or both) - something fun. But one can also convey professionalism, elegance, or just a fun casual vibe with frames.

Unfortunately, I feel that what most people's glasses say about them is that they just want something that won't stand out. The message they're sending is that they don't want to be noticed, and of course, most of us oblige them by not, in fact, noticing them.

Shoes are a strong second place. Not necessarily heels, just shoes in general. Again, so much opportunity for expression.

What is your favorite accessory type and why? :)

I love the description of "Never too fashionable" while being "never not fashionable." That is so true. I had a hard time choosing between the "love" reaction and the "insightful" one. Sometimes I want to select two!

Okay, you have me convinced. I keep saying it, but I'm going to go find my long neglected scarves. I need to watch some youtube videos on the most current ways to wear them though. I haven't updated my scarf skills since the early aughts. I want to tie some around my purse handles too. It looks so cute but I have no idea how to do it.

There are some great Insta how-to vids (better than YT because they're looped).

Doesn't have to be a fancy tie/knot. Practice different ways but just go with the one that makes you look good.

I go through phases, but nothing too neat, formal or precise. My favourite atm is fold the square on the bias, loop round once around the neck and then again, tie with a knot. Wear the knot to the side if tighter (French style) or slightly looser to the back for a faux polo-neck look.

If I had to pick just one, it would be earrings (closely followed by handbags and bracelets).

Depending on the style (studs, hoops, drop earrings etc.,), earrings can convey a mood, be casual, formal, playful, etc.
Lots of variation in style, stones, design, color, and pattern, so it's easy to switch up a look.
Small, so doesn't occupy a lot of space in the closet.
It's always nice to have that added sparkle near the face.
Easy to transport since they're small.

Typing this out, I realized I need more earrings, as my collection is quite small at present!

+1 with @AnnaLou . Except I find that some of my glasses from the 1990s on are still going strong . I adore the valextra universal eye glass case (exposed temples) that fits even oversized sun glasses.
I find sunglasses to have more staying power than eyeglasses overall, except for really distinctive looks, which are never in style enough to be considered out. Things like small round glasses (like John Lennon's), large thick frames (ala Buddy Holly or Edith Head), or cat eyes, are timeless and a strong look regardless of whatever else is trending.

I'm feeling like I want new glasses now. Mind you, I just got a new pair two weeks ago, but still. I want more!!

Optical glasses and sunglasses, though I have very specific tastes for both and gravitate to one very specific sunglass style and two optical styles.

Boots make me feel like I could take on the world. I always feel so confident and strong.

Headbands. I am the least Blair Waldorf style type in the world, but I'm obsessed.

And rings. Necklaces and earrings are for other people to see, but rings are for my viewing pleasure.

I have many but shoes are my first love. It's how I found TPF in the first place. Was searching for a pair of shoes Jessica Simpson was wearing and stumbled on the Louboutin forum. I later found out they were the Bruges and funnily enough, have never added them to my extensive CL collection. :amuse:

I am one of those people who will pick my shoes first and plan my outfit around them. So why are they my favorite type of accessory? Because they make me happy. As the saying goes..."Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world."
