What is this on my pochette metis handle?

As the title says, what is this on my pochette metis handle? It is only 3 months old. I use it a lot but am careful with it. It took me 3 bags to get a perfect one but now it is doing this??? Any advice on what it is and what I should do?

I am hesitant to take it in as they were so rude to me when I was purchasing and having issues finding one that didn't have a dodgy S lock mechanism or scratched up top handle

Are you referring to the white stuff? I've seen that before around the glazing on my reverse card holder. Can you gently wipe it with a soft cloth and it comes off? Or gently scrape it with your nail inside a cloth?

Yep, the white stuff. Looks so tacky and worn I can't get it off and it does seem to be peeling so I'd say it must be the glazing??? Urgh
