I'm thinking of getting some of my Tiffany jewelries polished by Tiffany. I tried their cleaning service but the scratches were still visible.

Does the polishing remove scratches by scraping off the surface layer of the jewelries? And with more polishing, the thinner ther jewelries will get?

I had a bracelet polished....it came back shiney but had a little tarnish in the letters. Within a week it looks so much worse than before it was sent. Wont do it again! Makes me sad because I got a key necklace in silver because I thought later I could have it polished...I will probably just take it to a local jewler instead of driving a hour away for dissapointment.

I got my bracelet polished.... took out ALL the scratches. It looked like new. What they do is basically polish off a layer of silver, so that the piece is even with no scratches. Looks so shiny and new. I didn't have the tarnishing problem that the poster above had.

I had a few of my Tiffany pieces polished, they sent them back to the New York store and I picked them up at my local store when they were done. I was not impressed, I could of done a better cleaning job myself, all the scratches were still there. However a few days ago I went into my local jeweler and she offered to clean my jewelery while I looked at my future engagement ring and wedding bands for my FF. When I got it back all the scratches were gone and it shined like the day I got it. Try taking them to your local jeweler especially if your local Tiffany isn't close (they usually do it for free, at least mine did).
