I'm considering a RG DBTY. Since it'll be bigger than 0.17ct it'll have the thinner bezel like the YG & Plat versions.

I tried on the 0.23ct which looked great. It was hard to see how the 0.29ct looked because the exposed culet made the diamond "tip" upwards. I'm currently waiting to hear back from T&Co about the possibility of adding a basket to prevent the poke (boy did the 0.29ct hurt!) & help it lay flatter against my skin.

Is it a case of bigger is better? I want the chain to sit as a "u" shape and not a "v" shape so I guess I can't have a diamond which is too heavy. I had a rubbish SA the last time I went to T&Co so so I'm reluctant to go back into a store though it looks like I might have to... any advice welcome!!

I read on another thread (and it made sense to me) to consider the price you’d be paying for the dbty and whether you’d prefer a different piece for the money. I think the high teens and low twenties are such a beautiful size for dbty. Larger than that, and I’d be considering paying more for a Victoria pendant (for example). Just something to consider!

I also think diamond shrinkage is very real, but strongest right around the time of and after purchase. And I quickly got used to the poking I initially felt from the dbty and no longer feel it at all.

My largest is a .32. I love it and would consider adding a larger one as well. I also have a .14 and the silver 5 stone with a total carat of .25. I think the DBTY should be on the dainty side and .50 or under are my favorite sizes.

I have a .28 E color and it was $2400 last October. I’m disappointed with it. The size is a little small and the price was quite steep. I’d advise buying one not at Tiffany’s.

It is possible to have Tiffany add something to keep it from hurting! I have owned mine for years and it was always a love/hate relationship for me that I liken to wearing high-heeled shoes. On a whim I saw my sales associate and she was able to get it modified! Not only does it sit perfectly now, but I literally don’t notice the culet at all!
