I can’t speak to your specific event but I would presume it’s an opportunity to peruse the offerings Hermes has available in the home and houseware category. I would further presume that in addition to items available online in that category (a good place to start a bit of research) there will be unique or limited edition pieces that will showcase what the artisans can accomplish.
Light refreshments are likely to be available. If you hate everything there really is no pressure to purchase, they want you to be happy. (I’m not sure whether you’re expected to place an order at the event or just tell your SA who will place the order for you. I’m certain that Hermes will tally financial numbers to track KPI and other metrics.)
I’ve refused most of the (very few) invitations I’ve received because I have had no interest in the category. I don’t wear a watch, for example.
