I see that on the real real and fashionphile. They've got the Rockos and Rockies on super discount! I remember when they were selling for >$600. I was able to get a rockie with minimal wear for just under $300. Is it because the bags are heavy for EDC? Is it not "trendy"? I personally love the style and hoping they make a comeback.

I think the market is just over saturated. It’s less to do with style than it is a simple matter of supply & demand.

I personally consider the Rocco & Rockie to be modern classics, and thus don’t think they’ll ever truly be “out of fashion.” But they had their big “it bag” moment, where new colors & variations were constantly being released, and everyone & their mother owned at least one. They were never really destined to maintain their value, unless it was a super unique, hard to find variation.

As someone who almost exclusively buys preloved, I couldn’t be happier that you can pick one up for a few hundred bucks these days. ;)

I'm wondering the same thing- What happened to AW ?! Loved AW so much but haven't seen anything new and exciting in a while. Latest collections were...weird I guess, didn't get them at all. I hope AW gonna make a "strong" collection and come back soon, cause he is so talented and I really miss him, miss his unique style - edgy but срic! Also, it's sad that bigger brands with bigger money and with aggressive marketing just eat up smaller brands. We see a lot of Gucci, Louis, Chloe, Dior, etc. among influencers and celebrities, and of course, smaller brands don't have such good sales

I think back in the day a lot of us were willing to carry heavy bags. Then a lot of us decided it wasn't worth the strain.

Lately what personally pulls me back from Alexander Wang is his use of hardware. While it's always been a part of his aesthetic, sometimes it overrides the wonderful tactile aspect of leather. I see this bag, its metal bars and I think of restraint, I picture the metal clanging, the coldness of holding the bag by its bike chain, etc. It just feels too harsh and impersonal despite the creativity in design.

I agree! I was happy to pick up my first Mini Rockie in great condition for less than $200. It was a steal!

Sadly, it appears the only new Rockies still available are in black with a choice of rose gold or rhodium hardware. I don't think this style is going anywhere but certainly the demand is much, much lower than it once was. Personally I love it and am rocking it today.

I was able to pick one in excellent shape for $110 CAD. I just got it in the mail and I'm impressed with how cheap the price was especially since the advertisement just said "good used condition." Do you guys think apart of it may be the fact that they're made in China?

I've been wearing mine for several days. I'm not impressed with the quality of the purse. The interior, for $1000, is cheap polyester. The long strap breaks with little extra weight from something other than the studs. The screw that holds the extender piece came unloose. If they didn't cut corners this would definitely be a good piece. Stylistically it's a pretty bag but structurally it's poorly made.

Do you suppose that bag is a knock-off destined to be sold in the resale market? B/C I have a silver studded mini-Rockie which looks (IMHO) quite cute; I've gotten compliments. Been carrying it since the beginning of the year. It held up fine. I was tempted to buy the studded full size Rockie when it went on sale I liked the small one so much.
I can't remember if you got yours resale but if you did I would complain. You should surely get a year's worth of use before the bag shows signs of wear. Wherever you bought it from should at least give you a store credit if you return it.

There have been major quality issues for Alexander Wang purses over the past 5+ years. Many people have shared the same experiences I've had, including the crap strap. I bought it secondhand so I'm reselling it. It is authentic, just poorly constructed. I'm rather dissappointed about the oversights regarding bag construction.

Interesting. He makes garments, too, right? How's that business been doing?

I have three AW bags and all of them have worn like iron. No problems, and the dumbo leather especially is so thick and tough.

That said, I think the styles he is coming out with lately are just not very inspiring or unique, other than the Attica fanny pack which I really like. The latest, the she-e-o is just a box! Yawn! Absolutely no design inspiration at all. He needs to create another hit. And sadly his collab with Bulgari is very boring too. Just adding extra snake heads to their Serpenti bag is not design, imho.

I recently picked up a mini rockie during a Black Friday sale from a local department store. Not the cheapest of cheap but reasonable for brand new I suppose. I had the rockie but the weight got to me so I sold it off. Delighted with the mini as it's really cute and so much lighter but still able to fit my daily essentials! Wanted the rose gold hardware as it really stood out on my black outfit but there were defects on the last piece available. Not regretting the rhodium hardware though!! <3
