They weren’t famous people, but there were over 300 garment factory employees from Los Angeles Apparel who got Covid during the height of the pandemic and four of them died. The fashion industry wouldn’t exist without the people who make the clothes, even though it’s the designers get all the fame and money.

Alber Elbaz age 59 passed away April 25, 2021 from COVID
May he rest in peace
Lanvin has not been the same since his passing

It was heartbreaking.

His 2019 Richemont-backed AZ Factory was so cool and fun at the same time. It literally launched during Covid. Elbaz had always designed size-inclusively, and this new brand, his own really showed that high-fashion could be for any size, weight or height. It wasn't too expensive but priced more towards Contemporary Wardrobe. Most things sold out. It was just too soon for a new designer to walk in to AE shoes, the company, their values and aesthetic was totally designed on and around him. Now it's just a charity or foundation or something.
