What do you guys think of this blue dial oyster perpetual? Does it look too plain? I have an explorer 1 now, would it look too similar?

I would get the blue dial as two black dials for me would be too similar. I prefer the blue dial to the 2nd black one if that helps.
I love the blue dial but, if your Explorer has a black dial, it's a similar look. What kind of bracelet does your current watch have? A picture would be great.
Seeing your Explorer, I think there's enough of a difference. It's a dressier look to have just the markers on the blue dial without the numbers. My personal preference is for the blue dial oyster perpetual rather than the black dial.
*For me*, I think they're too similar, at quick glances they're nearly the same with different color dials.

Here’s my two cents: I have the OP41 of the blue dial. That is a sunburst dial, similar to VCA’s guilloche. So it shimmers and radiates different looks depending on the lighting. I have another watch with black dial but pounced on that OP when the opportunity presented itself to me once I see how delightful that dial is under different lightings.
Try both watches and see which one you love more. All the best!

I do like the blue dial....I talked to my local watch guy about changing my salmon dial to blue. He advised against it. In your case if you've got money to burn I guess having both might be nice. but the black and blue are pretty similar IMO
Another option is this grand seiko. These are all 39mm which is the perfect size for me.
