Hi,
I’m interested in this brown top handle Gucci bag. It says the leather is “cuir” leather. I really like it, but I’m afraid it is prone to scratches because the leather looks smooth. I’m not planning to use it as an everyday bag, but mainly going out or dressing up kinda bag. Also, I hate the strap, do they offer alternatives? I don’t have a lot of experience with Gucci bags, so any tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This Bamboo Top-handle is not on the UK site yet.

Cuir just means leather in French, and in this case it probably just refers to the colour as I can see Gucci uses it with all different types of leather that just happen to be tan in colour. If you look on the yellow-orange it's called "Marigold leather"

There are two different Gucci leathers that look the same on camera. One is a Box-type leather that is completely smooth though lightly prone to slight scratches and the other is a sort of fine grain stamp that's used on many of the 1955s. The second is very hardy and also scratch resistant unless you go at it with a razor.

If you look at the other listings (US) they show a separate leather strap in the last pic of the listing. You can also take off the shoulder strap(s) and just wear it in-hand.
