OK, I did some experimenting, and those of us Living with Small Heads can get away with it if you put it just under your hairline, with the teensiest smoosh of skin showing above it.

I should note that my experimenting was with a plain unadorned hairband, I have not tried doing it with anything "embellished" yet, and I do not have high hopes for dangles.
