What do you think of this Aquamarine?

Hi folks,

I know someone from work and she may want to sell this ring. I don't know anything about aquamarine. Hoping that my fellas tpfer could shred knowledge on this gem. I just read a little fact about colored gemstone. Dark blue colors or natural untreated are priced higher.

What I can see the ring is very clean no visible inclusion and it sparkles.

How does it look? Do you goes see hint of green? Is it too light?

It's hard to say if the color is right (screens and color balance on the camera can be an issue). There are blue, blue green, and very faint blue colors. I think the setting is a little awkward - I don't particularly like stones where you can see the finger through it (like glass).

I think the setting is throwing things off. I'd also wonder if it wasn't topaz. Aquamarines in yellow gold settings tend to throw a green tinge. Until my husband bought me one in white gold I thought I hated them because of it.

It definitely looks like an aquamarine to me, and I actually like the setting. I have an aqua ring with an oval stone and my stone is near identical to yours. Aquamarines you used to see in stores were more greenish, but now blue is the favored color. Most aquas these day have no green in them at all. Personally, I preferred the greenish ones.
