What do I need for Celine Authentication?

If we ask you to refer to this post, please please please read it through.

The golden rule: please do not start new threads for authentication, you need to post authentication questions here: Authenticate this Celine

Before posting there... please read this message so we can help you better!

We understand that many of you are not familiar with Celine or what we need to see for authentication (that's okay, that's why we're here to help ) but please read this and make sure that if you are seeking authentication, you have the necessary photos.

It is very hard or impossible for to authenticate when there are not enough photos, or the photos are:
1) Blurry
2) Tiny
3) Dark

Occasionally we can tell if from only one photo if the item is a really bad fake, but this is not the norm.

Also please do not ask us to detail why we believe something is no authentic or not looking right. Remember that this is an open forum, we do not want to 'help' counterfeiters makers make their fakes better!

Please be patient, if your post is not answered right away, you do not need to re-post. We have jobs, and families, and lives, and try to come online when we can, so sometimes there isn't someone online to help. Please do not post more than once.

Sometimes in the case of vintage bags, there is no one familiar with the bag/style/era who would be able to authenticate it.

Please use this information below to help us help you more efficiently. Thanks again!

To authenticate purses/bags we need the following photos:

1) multiple photos of the bag: interior, front/back, sides, bottom, interior

2) close up of the serial number tag. If the tag is in a difficult to reach place (as on many box bags) a photo of the tag is still required, showing as much detail as possible. If the serial number is not discernible from the photo ask the seller what the tag says.

3) Close ups of the following: Celine Paris Stamp, Made in Italy imprint or stamp; any engraving on hardware; any markings on the zipper.

4) please do not just post a photo of the serial number/tag, or just tell us what the tag says (not enough! we need more than that)

5) If these markings are not present on the bag, (ie, certain early season bags do not have serial number tags) please let us know when you provide the other photos.

6) Other items like wallets and SLG may not have all of the above, please include clear close up photos of all markings on the wallet/pouch.

Also, PLEASE POST THE AUCTION LISTING if it is from an auction site such as eBay for example. A listing tells a lot about the item as well. If it is a private sale, please specify.

We cannot authenticate based on 1 photo or listings WITHOUT photos of the serial tag, serial number or markings!

When taking close up photos please or ask sellers to, or if you are taking them yourself:

1) NOT use flash
2) NOT use zoom
3) do use macro mode that is usually indicated by a flower on most digital cameras
4) do take photo in lots of light (no flash though), by a window is good, but glare is bad
5) use a steady hand

If you cannot get a clear photo it may mean you are too close or too far away from the object. In macro mode there is an ideal range of distances between the camera lens and the object. So if you can't get a clear photo move the camera forwards and backwards and play around with it!

Ensuring that you have read this will help us help you better.

Update to: What is needed for Celine Authentication?
If we ask you to refer to this post, please read thoroughly.

This is a free service. Celine authenticators are volunteers providing their opinions. *We hope to help buyers find authentic items and prevent counterfeiters and dishonest sellers from doing business. Authenticators are not required to answer all posts and some may not be answered. If your post is not answered right away, you do not need to re-post. Authenticators have jobs, families, and busy lives. We try to come online when we can, and sometimes there isn't someone online to help.*We prefer to focus on helping individual, non-professional buyers and contributing members whose interests here extend beyond authentication requests.*

All authentication requests should be posted here: AUTHENTICATE This Céline *Please read rules and use format in Post #1*

Please make sure that if you are seeking authentication, you have the necessary photos. Also please do not ask us to detail why we believe something is not authentic. This is an open forum and we do not want to help counterfeiters or those selling fakes identify what is 'off'.*

Please do a search by seller name or item number before posting. Many times another member has posted a request already, and you can find what you are looking for with a search.**

In the case of vintage bags, there may be no one familiar with the bag/style/era who is able to authenticate it.*

Photos *Needed for Authentication:

Front view of bag
Back view of bag
Side views of bag
Bottom view of bag
View of interior of bag
Serial Number Tag or stamp*
Celine Paris stamp
Celine/Made in Italy stamp
Markings on the zipper head
All Celine engraving on hardware (this may be on the clasps, zipper pull, lock, buckle)

In addition:
Classic Box - hardware on strap
Cabas - stitching at base of handles*
*
If pictures are inadequate authenticators may skip your request. Additional photos may be requested for certain items.*

Pictures should be in focus, taken straight on (not an an angle) in good light and with the macro function of the camera.

*If the serial number stamp/tag is in a difficult to reach place (as on many box bags) a photo of the tag is still required, showing as much detail as possible. If the serial number is not discernible from the photo ask the seller what the tag says.*
