I have had a BNIB Hermes scarf listed on ebay for 2 months now. I have only gotten insulting offers on. I am wondering if I am not listing it well enough? I know nothing about Hermes- so what are the usual pics/description details that someone that "knows" Hermes would be looking for in an ebay listing? I offered to sell this for someone- so I feel like an idiot that such a gorgeous accessory hasn't been snatched up yet! Any helpful feedback from any of you knowledgeable ladies would be appreciated.

This is really a LUCK thing that someone out there is looking for that particular scarf. Also, price point. Are you selling it for very close to the price of a new one I can buy at the store? And for me, I always look at seller's history. Very important. I once made the mistake of buying a scarf from a brand new seller, thinking it's a mom or girl that got it as a gift and isn't into H stuff. The pictures on ebay had all the markings etc... and it was from Coral Gables which is a nice area. When I got the scarf, it was totally fake. Smaller in size, badly printed, no trademark markings, the box didn't have same texture, etc. I guess what the seller did was show pictures of the real scarf but sent a fake. Anyway, I'm now very cautious about buying Hermes on ebay.

Have you tried checking out other H scarf listings from reputable resellers? You can get a good sense for what to include from those.

A few suggestions (though I am no expert):
- include the name of the design in the listing title. In the description, you could include some information about the artist, the design itself, etc (you may have to research this)
- include the colorway as described by H (french, with English translations)
- condition (detailed descriptions, photos of any flaws). If it's NWT, it should look the same as you'd see it in the boutique (eg, crisp folds)
- where it was purchased (and if it was an H sale item, note this)
- include a photo of the care tag
- what it comes with (eg, box, ribbon, tissue, copy of boutique receipt, etc)

I echo good life's comments about the pricing - depending on how rare or sought-after the design is, some design command a premium but others don't. If it's a relatively new design that's still available in boutiques, you'll probably need to sell it for less than retail. However, if it's an older design that's no longer available in stores AND is very popular, you may be able to charge a premium.

Hope that helps, I'm sure the more seasoned experts here can also chime in!

Agree with good life and balihai - plus, you can't underestimate the value of good clear photos of care tag, hems, Hermes signature, copyright symbol, artist's signature (if there is one), name of scarf (if it appears).

I have no idea of retail prices of Hermes scarves. The items that have sold on ebay are all over the map- from $100 up to $3000. I have the name of the artist, name of the scarf (thanks to girls on TPF), the condition (BNIB), pic of the care tag (the one that says dryclean only, etc?), and it comes in it's original box. I haven't thought to look for an artist's signature. I literally unfolded the scarf for the first time just to get pics and measure it and then folded it right back up.

How can I find out what the colorway is? It's bluish-gray, on the darker side I guess. I don't know where it was purchased because I am selling it for my boss who got it as a gift from a client when she worked in Manhattan.
What designs are desired? I thought horse themes were- which was why I was hopeful....but again, the scarves that have sold on ebay are a variety of patterns.

thanks for everyones input- I am going to add some of the pics you suggested when the listing is up in a few days.
