What color pearls for 20-30 year old?

I am thinking about getting my sisters each a pair of pearl earrings, probably drop pearls, as these are a little more casual, but I don' know what color. Should I go with a classic white, or would a light grey be a less formal (i.e., more "wearable") alternative? One is about to turn 25, the other is 27, so they are still fairly young. I want to give them something classic that they can wear forever, but still trendy enough to look their age. Suggestions?

I turn 20 in like a month and I'd personally prefer the classic white ones! I think they look gorgeous on anyone, no matter what age

All Tahiti pearls are both classic and edgy... Grey or greenish depending on skin colour.
But I am way to old to give you advice

I would say that multicolored pearls would be a younger look, and they might be casual enough to coordinate with more outfits. I tend to view white pearls as a more business or formal look.

I didn't mention coloring...one has an olive complexion, the other is more peaches and cream fair. So if you have a preference according to complexion, chime in as well!

Classic white for the peaches/cream sister. Tahitian grey for the olive complexion. What a nice gift.

Go to QVC.com today. Honora pearls are on sale and they have great colors for decent prices. I love classic white and other colors (I'm 25). Personally, I would prefer white because it matches everything!

ETenebris Cream for olive complexion and pink for peaches/cream complexion. I'm 33 and I find gray pearls are a bit old for me. My favourite is pink pearl. However the colour of the setting makes a difference.

Love the lustre....if you look closely you can see my reflection on the single pearl pendant! Good luck in your selection!

Definitely go with white, especially if they are gifts for your sisters. If it were for you and you liked colored pearls, then I'd say buy what you like, but I think colored pearls are very taste specific - they are not for everyone. White pearls are classic and look great on everyone. I definitely don't think they are too formal for everyday - they look nice with everything.

it really depends on their skin tone, but i don't think you can ever go wrong with white pearls. you can up the "edge" factor by buying a longer length necklace for them.
