Thought I’d make this post asking what everyone had brought this year. For me I’ve always stuck to a few luxury wishlist items every year but it’s the small non luxury items that get me. I‘m very surpised that I didn’t buy summer dresses or work clothes.

Only one Zara order which is very unusual for me £100
1. wool sweater
2. short coat
3. black trousers

H&M basics tops £40

gymwear £200

Shoes (mid range) - I brought quite a few for a holiday otherwise wouldn’t buy this many
I feel like my shoe collection is almost complete
1. comfy sandals
2. wedge sandals
3. cream slingbacks
4. Navy ballet flats
5. Tan sandals
6. Black sandals

Make up accessories £40
Travel makeup brushes

Gymwear, work clothing and shoes I‘m complete on so shouldn’t be buying anything else.

Jewellery luxury and non luxury £1900
1. Van Cleef and Arpels bracelet
2. Delicate necklaces
3. inexpensive fashion

Handbags
1. Chanel classic WOC
2. Fendi white mini baguette

Other expected purchases for the year
1. Summer top - waiting to go on sale
2. Occassion dresses, clutch handbags, shoes to match
3. Black trainers to replace an old pair

What has everyone brought this year?

I don't do prices, I do need, and think longterm. So my prices are CPW. I do distinguish new from preloved as I like to keep the circular economy going (any excuse lol)
I don't distinguish between high or low, just put more money to where the high-street can't compete, but also try not to spend unnecessarily.

Hangover 2022: I bought 2 Cos AW midi skirts last year, one navy, one grey, but as yet unworn, so I'll need to address that AW23.

New clothes:
4 x Primark Cares XS Men's Tees (better shape and colour than women's)
2 x Primark gym crop-tops in the sale
2 x black jeans M&S (20% off offer)
Jeans jacket, white embroidered like broderie anglaise also M&S - it will great when more love-worn
Saint Laurent black wool/silk Le Smoking

Clothes charity shop / goodwill / agency:
MM6 Martin Margiela floral summer dress (was pre-AW 17 NWT)
Pure wool, late-1970s/early 80s black/brown Guy Larooche checked skirt suit
Leonard, Paris, 1960s orchid-print brown silk tie
Vivienne Westwood X Jean-Michel Basquiat black floral embroidered washed-silk shirt AW19 (can be worn as a dress)

Footwear:
Gucci booties (sale 50%)

Make up
Hourglass Mascara

Jewellery luxury and non luxury
Cartier X CHITOSE ABE (Sacai) ring
2 x Vanessa Baroni big flat chain necklaces (orange / sparkle black)
EP for Tiffany lacquered bangle

Handbags
0 but I have my eye on a BV clutch

Accessories
Hermes scarf (pre-loved - cw I missed out on '21)
Balmain fire-print scarf (new and full price - turned it into a top for an event, worn with lace mini)

Other expected purchases for the year
BV handbag as above (pre-loved)
Bespoke Gucci velvet, silk scarf-lined suit (if they'll still do it - who knows what will be happening at Gucci :shrugs: ) (new)
Hermes scarf (new)

I use two apps to keep track of my purchases.
One is for everything (including luxury) and one is for just luxury only (including luxury gifts).

I’m not going to list out everything that’s too much.
I’ll just screenshot my year to date info from my apps.

“For me” are things only for me: luxury, high street fashion, fine or costume jewelry, etc.

I’m too lazy to categorize my items from Hermes (because I buy a variety of things when I do go shopping) so it has its own category lol.

Tbh I don’t really go back and look at these things. It’s mainly a habit and gives a me a general idea on spending each month.

I have a general rule is that when I buy something from a brand, I won’t buy another thing unless I’ve used or worn that prior item first. It has honestly helped me from buying too much or spontaneous purchases.

However, I find the forum: 2023 Resolutions: Shopping my own handbags and SLGs to be one of the more helpful and enjoyable ways to enjoy what I have and curb spending. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...slg-collection.1057988/page-198#post-35722504

This year has been tame for me, in part because we tightened our belts in preparation for hubby’s career shift. I usually buy myself a few clothing pieces at the start of each season, but since I work from home 2 days a week and my job’s dress code isn’t strict, there’s been less need for me to shop. I got a couple of long-sleeved, oversized button ups because they’re super versatile (I use them in place of cardigans, sometimes) as well as a pair of cropped, denim Madewell cargo joggers. I got a pair of high-top leather Converse: my excuse was that they were on sale, lol. As for bags, I bought 2, but am selling one of them because I don’t like it as much as I thought I would. I’ve been doing more purging than buying this year… it’s refreshing. My kryptonite is jewelry… if it’s vintage and I don’t love it when it arrives, I can sell it in my Etsy shop.:noworry:

This is so helpful. I tend to just keep a list on my phone on my phone for what I’ve spent on “For me”.

Do you mind sharing what apps these are?

I keep a clothing budget annually but it pales into insignificance compared to my jewellery budget..I’m paying a 12 month lay-by on a ring I wear all of the time (I traded in a yellow diamond necklace)- it’s a platinum Type 11a pear shape diamond set with Argyle pink diamonds, although one day I’ll trade that up too.
But atm that’s claiming a lot of my ££££!
