What causes this to happen to a speedy?!

These are not photo of my bags. I hope it is ok that I borrowed them to show what I'm talking about.

I am wondering what causes the piping to stick out on the speedy bags. How do I prevent this from happening and do any TPf'ers have an older speedy (5 years or more) that this didn't happen to? Is this considered regular use? Was the bag to full of stuff?

I had this happen to my Mono Speedy, which I purchased in 07. I had it re-piped in December. For me it was probably jus wear & tear, as I did not abuse my bag, but I do not baby them either.

Same thing happened to me and I got it repaired for $130 at the boutique.

This is the kind of thing that has been happening since the merger. Look for vintage!

That is so sad! Maybe they are making the leather thinner to save on production costs. Too bad!

I've never seen this! I have several Speedys and this has not happened to my bags.

I had my speedy for almost 10 years and it never happened. Maybe the quality has been compromised on recent bags.

Exactly. I've only ever seen exposed piping on Speedies made in and after 2007.
