I find calf and pebbled leathers to work well. I also have a leather called tribe which is exclusive to a brand in my country.

As well my Nylon longchamps :) Saffiano does well too but i only own one bag in that...

Nylon Longchamp and pretty much any contemporary designer (Mostly Rebecca Minkoff and Kate Spade). I just got a 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli which I'm sure will do great in the rain too. I pretty much carry all of my bags in the rain besides my Givenchy Pandora in pepe leather, even though it looks sturdy enough I don't think I'm willing to risk it.

I've lived in Oslo, Glasgow and now I live in Seattle, which are all some pretty rainy places, so I need my bags to be able to handle it, no point in getting a bag that has to sit in the closet most of the time!

Most of my leather bags are dark so I don't worry about them. If it's going to pour and I'm heading out, then I'd take a synthetic or coated canvas bag.
My patent YSL Lover, my Mulberry Alexa in glossy buffalo, or my nylon Burberry tote. These are my studiest bags.

P.S. I love the look of my Mulberry Alexa with my Burberry trench. The Brits know how to do fashion for rainy days :).

Echoing most people, I try to stick to my nylon or canvas bags when it's raining outside. My Lonchamp le pliage has been through countless rainstorms (and even a couple of typhoons!) with nary a mark

If it's pouring rain or blowing snow, then I use my nylon bags. If it just a light drizzle or light snowfall, then my leather bags. However, I will look for covered or underground parking whenever possible when the weather's really bad.

Today, it was snowing - well, I say "snow" but it was more like someone was pouring slush down from the great big bucket in the sky - and I had to stand outside waiting for my bus that was 30 mins late. And no umbrella, of course.
Made me count my blessings and congratulate myself on two excellent choices; frosting myself with full-on winter gear (it wasn't below 0C and I wasn't expecting to be standing outside for 40 mins so with bad luck might have gone out in something a lot less warm!) AND making not one, but two great bag choices!
I carried a Le Pliage Cuir and a Tiger of Sweden. Both got soaked and neither one took it to themselves. They are doing great, just wiped off most of the built-up snow/sludge once I finally got on the bus and there's no sign of any damage. I think the ToS gulped at least a litre of water, judging by the weight of it going up... :roflmfao:
