What are your thoughts on this as an engagement ring? Please suggest also wedding band design that can go well with this ring? Something I can wear alone as well.

It's beautiful. I personally would let it take center stage and have just a plain matching wedding band for it. It's all personal preference though.

I don't love the side view but I actually really like a plain-shank halo (where the band is plain but there's a halo around the stone).

What I don't love is the way the main stone is set. I like when the stone is either bezel set with the halo or set MUCH lower within the halo like this:

The way that setting is built is a little too piecemeal.

The ring is lovely. I'd get a delicate pave set diamond band to go with it. That would look great.

I agree, I don't like how the center stone sticks out much farther than the halo. I like it when the difference between the halo and center stone is barely noticeable. Also think the prongs are a little too noticeable.

I'm no expert but do agree that the center stone would look nicer if set lower
I would pair it with an eternity band, the stones would be the same size as the ones on the halo
