I'm new to handbags and purses (I'm a man) but familiar with some:
Chanel
Bottega Veneta
Gucci
Louis Vuitton
Prada
Balenciaga
Christian Dior
Chloe
Bulgari
Hermes
Cartier
Yves Saint Laurent
Fendi
Goyard

Please tell me the best designer handbags and purses; as well as the most expensive; and the ostentatious “Anniversary” items.

"the Best" is subjective to personal opinion, not everyone will agree on 1. Same with ostentatious, what some think of one another see as meh. You should just peruse the forum.

Many of the newer styles from established brands make me barf, eg. I think everything Balenciaga is rubbish and they are trolling us. But many love the designs as fresh and new ( :sick: ).

I understand it's subjective. I just want to know different women's opinions.

Even within the same brand, there is a range of designs offered from subtle low key to bright and loud styles. So you can see the difficulty in comparing generalizations. Not only are we not comparing apples to apples but fruit baskets to fruit baskets. Perhaps to be more helpful, could you narrow it down to a specific style of bag to compare? What is predominantly in their wardrobe?

Any type of handbag and purse as long as it's flashy.

I agree that everyone is going to think something different. I am not really into luxury bags. I feel like they are too flashy for my taste. I pretty much just stick to Patricia Nash handbags. My mom, when she was alive, only carried one handbag for many years. She didn't have many bags and it was in a neutral color and it was not made of leather and it was not a luxury piece.

dior Lady dior couture/bespoke exotic or hand embroidered (or both)
chanel exotic (no longer produced)

delvaux custom; Moynat; Bulgari, jacque Duclos
custom from a small atelier: Duret; Peter Nitz

agree with the post above that suggested perusing the forum.

Royal purple calf-hair, boarskin-print leather, gold chain (alternative strap). It's even nicer in person. Luxe in all senses of the meaning of the word, pure Italian style
