What are deal breakers for you?

You took that right out of my brain!

Really cuts down on the impulse buying when part of the decision is the "made in ______" tag.

Great point!

Other deal breakers for me:

- Whipstitching (I like the way it looks, but not the way it wears)
- PVC (this is a huge pet peeve of mine)
- Excessive charm action; hardware that looks like the metallic finish is painted on (a la Kathy VZ)
- Very heavy
- Can only be handheld
- Plastic interior zippers
- Massive logos

I am sure that there's more...like many of you, I am peeeecky about my bags.

ETA:
- Price (doh)
- Retail...I don't do retail if at all possible!!!! :nogood:

Swanky hit the nail on the head

Price is the biggest deal breaker. Right now my "rule" is that it cannot be over 1 month's rent, luckily or unluckily for me NYC rent is sky-high...

Second deal breaker is weight, I lug around my life with me, and NYC is very much a walker's city. If the bag kills my back or my shoulders before I put anything inside, it's a no go.

Definitely price, but also style. If it's something that will only last a season, I won't buy it. I agree with others about cheap material, exterior and interior. And I have recently added weight to my list. I learned after lugging a 5 pound bag around!
