I just bought a rather beaten up but well priced speedy 25 in yellow epi. It has creases on the side and is pretty beaten up, but I figured that would be OK with a bag liner in it.
Everything about it looks authentic but there are two things that are raising alarms.
First, there is no date code. I have looked everywhere. The inside leather tabs where the rivets are are smooth as can be. Yes, even under the pocket.
Also, the embossed LV is on the front and back. I used to have a red epi 30 and as I recall, the embossed LV was only on one side. But that could be a false memory..
LV started using date codes in 1982 and the speedy epi was introduced in 1985, so it cannot be the case but the bag was made before date codes.
