Hello my dear TPf friends!

Just bought this bag in a Gucci boutique and it has a weird stamp on it. Can you share your advice about it? The salesperson say it is an internal code and that it has nothing to worry about.

Thanks for kind help!

No idea. What I see is a -S-, If I saw it stamped on a piece I would expect it to be a sample (which would normally be sold through an outlet only). They used to punch a hole through the tags on bags - not sure what they do now, obviously they couldn't that to a belt. G stamp usually denotes made for outlets only.

If you like the belt and want to keep it. I would advise from asking too many questions and pressing the issue. I once bought a special project white crocodile pouch that was one of a kind. It had an issue with a couple of the stitches and I asked for it to be fixed just after I bought it. Gucci CS whisked it away, said it couldn't be repaired (nonsense) processed a credit refund and I never saw it again.

Thanks for your reply! I bought it in an outlet boutique indeed, but my mom hasn’t any mark or stamp on the bag she bought. Maybe it is a S for SALES just like on the Hermès bags? Here are some pictures of the model. Do you know it? Is it old? It has a broken stitch too, but I have glued it and it’s okay.

There are reg bags (have been available at normal Gucci stores) for sale at outlets.

S does not mean 'sale', it's prob a sample.

You’re so fast at answering, thanks!

I’m surprised about the sample theory because they had at least three identical models. One on the shelf, one with a defect on the leather pouch, and the one I bought with the defect on the stitch... Would you keep it if you were me?

A friend told me they saw several fur trimmed bag samples at Bicester (UK), they obviously make more than one. The only alternative is that they are made for outlets only but I haven't heard they've fazed out the G-stamp.

This is true. So maybe those are samples of stitching techniques on the top edges? And this is why two stitches are broken? I don’t know if I keep it or change it for another model... And I’m afraid the -S- stamp will decrease the value of the bag.
