I came across this bag at the mall today: http://canada.roots.com/SmallBanffB...&cgid=leatherWeekenderBags&start=4&q=#start=1

Pleasantly surprised is an understatement, I'm used to paying luxury prices so this seemed like a steal for the quality of the leather and made in Canada fabrication.

My only concern is the giant "authentic Roots Canada" labelling on the front of the bag… Would you still consider purchasing the bag?

I think it looks like a great travel bag and I find the logo to be pretty discreet vs a huge large metallic logo. If it really bothers you, maybe you can find a bag repair person who could cover it up with a piece of leather embroidered with your initials or something?

I own a many Roots bags that label in the world of labels today is VERY discreet... they don't make them in your face and usually it's only done on a single side...

Treat you leather and that will last you decades. I know for a fact. :)

Sad sad news…they just got back to me, they had a mistake in their system and it's actually out of stock.

BUT due to this, I learned that Roots does custom bag orders, so they offered to remake the bag for me, even though it was a special capsule collaboration collection!

But the best part is that I got to customize the bag! I ended up choosing a combination of black and cobalt leather (the bag itself will be cobalt, aside from the bottom which will be black), the handles will be black but the little flap part that holds the handles together will be cobalt, the reinforcement leather on the sides will be black as well…Plus I chose to have contrast green stitching with a green satin lining… The shoulder strap will also be black but the padding part on the strap will be cobalt!

I am so ridiculously pumped (the 3-5weeks can't go by fast enough!)

That sounds fantastic! you must show what it looks like when it's done, i knew they did custom, never tried myself but a wonderful option.

That I shall! I'm just surprised that they were willing to remake a bag from a capsule collection. I have to say that I have been seriously impressed with their customer service thus far! +1 for Roots

Horween is amazing leather, I love their shell cordovan (from the hind quarters of horses). It is divine for shoes and watch straps! I actually learn't about the collection through Horween rather than through Roots. :P
