I'm looking for input on a jewel-toned wedding guest dress appropriate for a May wedding and hoping for some input. Based on my frame (petite, but with broad shoulders), I'm currently eyeing these:

or this without the shrug:

They feel somewhat wintery to me, but most of the dresses I like that are more spring appropriate are on the pastel side. I'm open to other suggestions, but would like to keep it under $500.

I think one looks a bit like a night gown. I also have broad shoulders and I prefer to wear thicker shoulder straps than two. Though if you wear a nice little shrug or bolero, I think two could be very nice (agree with @snibor that the hem of two is very nice). If it’s only the dress and no cover up, then I vote three. But, I advise taking pics in the dressing room, bc things can always turn out differently IRL
have fun!

Another dress that's caught my eye:

Is this too brash? It'll probably hit just above the knee on me. I love pink and it is jewel tone, but I worry it's too much and comes off as attention seeking than a cute dress I like.

1) Agree with some, too nightgown for me. Also, may look a bit matronly, imo.
2) Feels a little like a bridesmaid dress tbh. Also feels quite plain, not like a more special occasion dress. I can see this being a nice summer dress.
3) My preference out of the 4...BUT, I don't know what it looks like without the shrug, and that may change my opinion. The deep V-neck does remind me of a dress that Alyssa Lenore wore as a wedding guest (it was also a nice deep emerald green color), and it looked beautiful.
4) Very fun and party-ish. If it goes around your knees I don't think that's inappropriate.

A few questions:
- Does the bride have a theme? Does it say what kind of attire to wear at the wedding? (ie. cocktail, black tie, white tie, all white, etc.)
- Do you know the bride's preferences?
- Is the bride a more chill/flexible person or more rigid/inflexible with certain things?
I think if you know the answer to these questions, then it should be much easier to make a decision.

No theme really beyond jewel-tones. It’s under 10 people, so while I don’t have an official role, everyone’s kind of part of the bridal party if that makes sense, which is why I’m more inclined to simple dresses. The bride’s super easy going though. I’ll probably go try on the pink dress, see how it really fits (if it’s too short and I know I’m just going to fiddle with it, it’s a no-go anyway), take a photo and get her opinion. That said, I also know she’ll probably give me the thumbs up regardless and I don’t want to be that person on her day if you know what I mean.

For a little more information, dress three is a tie back halter. I’ll probably wear it up a bit higher, so it’s more an empire waist and not as low cut.

I think the combination of color, metallic, cut, and hem length is better for a non wedding event, but JMO and YMMV
I would go with your first instinct which may be that this is brash. Perhaps buy it if you love it for another occasion . . .

ETA: if there was perhaps a longer length/ more to the skirt, perhaps I’d feel differently lol
