Wedding gift etiquette question

You don't really HAVE to do anything, but if she's a good friend, I'd say bring a gift.

I agree, if it were just a casual acquaintance or work colleague, then you wouldn't be expected to bring a gift, just a card, whether you were invited to both the ceremony and reception, or just one of them.

But as she's a friend of yours, then i'll echo everyone else and say 'bring a gift'

I say gift it but something small sicne they aren't dropping major money on feeding you.

I'm so glad you asked this question, as I am in the same situation. I've always been invited to both the ceremony and the reception.

Not at all! Some people never heard of getting invited to the reception but not the ceremony and vice-versa so these questions are bound to pop up.

Yeah, I've heard of the reverse-being invited to the ceremony but not the reception b/c it typically doesn't cost the couple to invite people to the ceremony, but it costs money to invite people to the reception.
