Hello everyone!

What is your experience of wear and tear of suede? Especially suede handbags? Suede as details on a handbag?

I am careful about my bags because I want them to last. I have never own anything in suede before so I need help. Some people say it is fine with suede as long as you take care of it while some people say that suede will always wear bad no matter how you care for it.

It would be very helpful with pictures of old suede items.

1 of my most used bags.
Ink color shows occasional gathered dog hairs/fluff--use lint brush to clean.

Sprayed suede with collonil waterstop. Nappa has leather gel applied, also.
Am not gentle with this bag.

Bag in great shape, imo. No balding/flat patches. No fading. Zip.
Probably more structured shape--or suede on handles/heavy wear areas--would be trickier. Or if was thinner suede.

Hope helps.

I live in Northern CA where rain rain rain is winter. I never buy suede bags or shoes or boots, though I think they are beautiful. So I have no advice to offer, just wistful that I used to buy suede when I lived in states where rain was a variable occurrence
