i haven't worn a watch for over a decade now. when i need to know the time, i pull out my cell phone.

but over a year or so, i've been eyeing the white, ceramic chanel j12, but NEVER EVER EVER can i justify getting it because i really don't use watches...i really don't.

so i'm curious if you ladies on this forum buy your lovely watches because it's an accessory or because it's a beautiful yet practical piece to wear daily and you really do use them to tell time.

i use my watch all the time.... we're not allowed to have cell phones at work, so it's more convenient for me to use my watch. I also can't see worth a damn without contacts or glasses, so I have to look at my watch in the morning. I can't see the alarm clock without glasses.

Both! For years I didn't wear one and just used my mobile phone, but now I miss my watch terribly if I don't wear one. I also figure they're the perfect splurge item given that they're functional AND pretty. :graucho:

I used to use my cell phone when I needed the time, but it's much more convenient to have it on your wrist than to have to dig through your bag. Plus I hate when people bring their phones into meetings, so I don't do it, and I never know what time it is. I think it's more convenient and it's another fun way to dress up. It's always fun to look at your wrist and see something pretty. I hadn't worn a watch for years, but now I think of it as a practical necessity and another excuse to wear something fabulous.

Im not a watch person at all. I have been given watches as gifts when I was younger. I was accually anti watch growing up. I didnt want something telling the time strapped on me. I do want a Gold vintage rolex. I would wear is as jewelry. Love it as a bracelet look.It isnt practical for me at all , time wise. I would never look at it for time. In fact we hardly have clocks in our place. I just dont like them.

I recently just got a new watch. I wear it about 75% of the time. But even when I am wearing it, I still tend to look at my cell phone for the time

Because I grew up without cell phones or computers the only way to know what time it was to wear a watch. It is just habit to look at my wrist and also because a watch can be a beautiful accessory.

I wear a Watch ALL the time.

The irony is all of my watches are Automatic/Manual Winding Watches so when I rotate them, I actually have to reset the time everytime I wear it! In the end, I just get too lazy to do that, so they are NOT telling the time accurately 90% of the time and I turn to my Cell Phone to do so in the end....:push:

But Wrist-watches are like Handbags to me....I can always put my $$/Cards/Cell in a pocket instead of bringing out a bag, but I'd feel totally naked without it.

I always wear one, but it's a pretty bracelet-style one. 99% of the time, I just look at my phone out of habit. The only time I actually use it is when I'm taking an exam and I can't see the clock and want to know how much time I have left..I obviously can't whip out my phone then lol.

The only time that I wear a watch (Girard Perregaux) is when I traveling and I'm not using my cellphone. I'm on a computer for most of the day and I can't stand the way my watch bangs against my keyboard or my laptop. But I have to confess, I have been totally eyeing a watch from Audemars Piguet (that I would probably never wear).

I do use my watch to tell time, but I chose my watch to be a beautiful jewelry accessory, as well;) It goes very well with my wedding set...and that is not by coincidence!!
